About Tysons Corner

The unique city of Tysons Corner is a suburban community in Virginia with a lot of charm. Fast forward a hundred years and this rural community changed quickly into a very urban community with a large commercial district and busy interstate highways passing through the city.

Because of Tysons Corner’s thriving business district, many people from surrounding communities commute into Tysons Corner for work every day. With huge office skyscrapers and business centers throughout the city, there are many jobs available in Tysons Corner. Locals that live here enjoy the hustle and bustle and constant growth of the area. Many large corporations have headquarters in Tysons Corner. Since Tysons Corner is such a popular place for big business, the cost of living is fairly high in comparison to surrounding cities and communities. The positive side of having a high cost of living is that the crime rate is also relatively low when compared with nearby cities and towns.

Thanks for your interest in our scholarship! Every six months, we select the essay that our panel of 3 judges determines to be the best.

The Fall deadline to apply is November 15th. The Fall winner will be announced to all applicants on December 10th.

The Spring deadline to apply is May 15th. The Spring winner will be announced to all applicants on June 10th.

The current essay prompt is, “Who has inspired your education the most and why?”
