It's true — San Antonio has a lot to offer, whether you are just passing through, or putting down deeper roots.

The history of San Antonio goes all the way back before Spanish explorers and missionaries arrived to this area in Texas in the late 1600s. Prior to that time, the Yanaguana Native Americans lived on this land and inhabited this region of Texas. The city of San Antonio was named by the Spanish in accordance with the day they landed here, since it happened during a Catholic feasting holiday in celebration of Saint Anthony.

San Antonio has become known for being a city with many military facilities, bases, and training centers. It is for this reason that San Antonio got the nickname of "Military City", as it is the city with the largest concentration of military facilities in the entire country. The military is a large employer in San Antonio, and brings many families to the state of Texas in order to live in close proximity to these military bases.

One of the most famous historical locations in Texas history is located in San Antonio, and I'm sure you've heard of it. The Alamo Mission in San Antonio is where the Battle of the Alamo took place in the late 1830s. Now a beautiful museum, the Alamo Mission is a place that every American should visit someday, as it speaks to a very interesting chapter in United States history. This isn't the only historic spot in San Antonio, however, as the city is chock full of historical sites and places of interest.

Families that live here in San Antonio feel that they are provided with high quality schools.
