About Arlington

Along the beautiful Potomac River in the northeastern region of the state of Virginia, Arlington is a large city within the metropolis of Washington, D.C. Because of its close proximity to Washington, D.C., Arlington is home to many federal departments and national agencies. Known for its historic districts and high-income households, Arlington has a lot to offer both residents and tourists.

Just on the other side of the Potomac River from Arlington, you’ll find Washington, D.C. Many federal employees live and work in Arlington, or commute to Washington, D.C. Arlington is home to the Pentagon, the Department of Defense, and the Transportation Security Administration, among others. With a national airport in the city as well, Arlington is a hub of activity and progress. Boasting a very stable local economy as a result of all of this federal industry in the area, Arlington is considered to be a great place to live and work.

Many factors play in to why Arlington is such a great place to live. Not only is it a great place for the successful young professional, but families love living here too. Senior citizens also boast a high quality of living, and the low crime rate, moderate weather, high quality of health care, and local history and vibrant culture all contribute to what makes Arlington so desirable. An interesting statistic about Arlington that is very telling about the area is the fact that it is located within the county with the highest level of median family income in the entire nation. Stability and financial security are part of what makes Arlington so attractive to people who settle here.

With many local landmarks that experience a high level of traffic by tourists, Arlington is perhaps most known for the Arlington National Cemetery. With its beginnings going back to the Civil War era, hundreds of thousands of men and women have been buried at Arlington National Cemetery. This is also the location where thousands upon thousands of veterans from various national wars have been buried. A somber and important place to visit, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, is frequented by large crowds. An “Eternal Flame” marks the grave that is constantly being watched over by a service member and provides a symbol of respect and honor for all service members.

Local families appreciate a high quality selection of educational options for their children when it comes to the local school districts. Both public schools and private schools are available to local students. For students who need extra one-on-one help in achieving certain educational goals, local Arlington tutors are available for assistance in a wide range of subjects.
